Description: This shrubland association occurs on somewhat steep to very steep southwest- and southeast-facing slopes at low elevations between 0 and 681 m. It is characterized by a codominance of <i>Eriogonum fasciculatum, Salvia mellifera</i>, and <i>Malosma laurina</i> in the shrub layer. The herbaceous layer is generally insignificant and composed of scattered non-native species. The emergent tree layer includes on occasion <i>Quercus agrifolia</i> and <i>Quercus lobata</i>.
