Description: This shrubland association occurs on somewhat steep to very steep southeast- and southwest-facing slopes at low elevations between 0 and 259 m. It is characterized by a codominance of <i>Encelia californica</i> and <i>Eriogonum cinereum</i> in the shrub layer. As with other associations of this alliance, the herbaceous layer tends to have relatively high frequencies of <i>Brassica nigra</i> and other non-natives. The emergent tree layer is usually absent.
