Description: This shrubland association occurs on moderate to steep slopes of variable aspect at low elevations between 0 and 415 m. It is characterized by a codominance of <i>Salvia mellifera</i> and <i>Artemisia californica</i> in the shrub layer. The herbaceous layer is composed of a variety of mostly non-native species at low cover. The emergent tree layer includes occasional <i>Quercus agrifolia</i>.
