Description: This seasonally flooded wetland occurs on the North Atlantic Coastal Plain in topographically defined basins of New Jersey and other Atlantic Coast states. The dominant species are <i>Cladium mariscoides</i> and <i>Juncus canadensis</i>. Other associates include <i>Coreopsis rosea, Dichanthelium dichotomum var. dichotomum, Dichanthelium spretum, Drosera intermedia, Euthamia graminifolia, Lachnanthes caroliana, Rhexia aristosa, Vaccinium macrocarpon, Viola lanceolata, Xyris smalliana, Sphagnum</i> spp., and occasional <i>Saccharum giganteum</i>. This vegetation occurs in the center of the basin and remains wet for most of the growing season. The substrate is a thin organic horizon overtopping deep sand.
