Description: This association is described from central and northern New Mexico on valley plains with deep, sandy soils. <i>Juniperus monosperma</i> is the dominant overstory species with canopy cover from 5-30%. <i>Pinus edulis</i> is absent or only occasionally present. Shrubs can be scarce or sometimes well represented but <i>Psorothamnus scoparius</i> is considered a diagnostic species for the association. <i>Andropogon hallii</i> and <i>Muhlenbergia pungens</i> are the diagnostic herbaceous species.
