Description: This shrubland association occurs primarily in the Owyhee Uplands ecoregional section in southwestern Idaho, southeastern Oregon, and northern Nevada but also occurs in northeastern California. The association occurs on gentle slopes with convex or straight microtopography in mid- and upper-slope positions at 1210-1700 m (4000-5600 feet) elevation. Soils are typically silt loams. <i>Artemisia tridentata ssp. wyomingensis</i> forms an open, medium-tall shrub canopy. <i>Achnatherum thurberianum</i> is usually abundant; <i>Poa secunda</i> is common to well-represented. Commonly associated perennial forbs include <i>Phlox longifolia, Antennaria dimorpha, Crepis occidentalis, Erigeron pumilus, Allium acuminatum</i>, and <i>Astragalus purshii</i>.
