Description: This association occurs at middle elevations in the Cascade Range and Olympic Mountains. Sites are usually moderate to steep slopes (34-85%) on talus or avalanche chutes. The well-developed, tall-shrub layer is codominated by <i>Alnus viridis ssp. sinuata</i> and <i>Acer circinatum</i>. The understory layer frequently includes <i>Maianthemum stellatum</i> and <i>Cryptogramma acrostichoides</i>. The shrubs <i>Paxistima myrsinites</i> and <i>Rubus parviflorus</i> and the forb <i>Maianthemum racemosum</i> are infrequent but prominent. Moss and lichen ground cover may be prominent.
