Description: This Cascade willow dwarf-shrubland occurs in Washington and possibly British Columbia. The vegetation is dominated by the short, mat-forming shrub <i>Salix cascadensis</i>. <i>Festuca saximontana var. saximontana</i> and <i>Carex phaeocephala</i> are frequent. <i>Erigeron aureus</i> and <i>Minuartia obtusiloba</i> are locally important. This association occurs in the northern Cascades above treeline. Sites have well-drained soils and vary in aspect and slope depending on climate.
