Description: This association occurs in northern and eastern Mount Rainier National Park and in the North Cascades. The vegetation is dominated or codominated by <i>Festuca viridula</i>. <i>Eucephalus ledophyllus</i> is always present to sometimes codominant. <i>Lupinus arcticus ssp. subalpinus, Lupinus latifolius</i>, or <i>Ligusticum grayi</i> is often prominent to codominant. <i>Arnica parryi, Nothocalais alpestris</i>, and <i>Penstemon confertus</i> are somewhat frequent in higher elevation sites. <i>Xerophyllum tenax</i> is present to prominent in burned sites. This dry subalpine meadow association occurs on moderate to steep, southerly slopes with well-drained soils. Bare ground is a common feature of this vegetation.
