Description: This association is currently only described from Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area, Montana and possibly adjacent Wyoming; it also occurs in Idaho. Additional global information will be added as it becomes available. The type is typical of high mountain meadows. The site has moderate slopes of 6 to 15%. Soils are silty, with textures of silty clay and silt loam. Additionally, soils are moist to dry and well-drained. Litter is the strongest unvegetated feature for this type, with cover ranging from 70 to 87%. Other unvegetated features at much lower covers are bare ground and small rocks. The one shrub species with common occurrence is <i>Ericameria nauseosa</i>. Overall, shrub cover is low to moderate (10-25%). The herbaceous layer has a much higher cover at 75 to 95%. Two dominant species in the herbaceous layer are <i>Leucopoa kingii</i> and <i>Cerastium arvense</i>. Also found, though in lower abundance, is <i>Pseudoroegneria spicata</i>.
