Name: Geum rossii - Carex albonigra Alpine Meadow
Reference: NatureServe Biotics 2019
Description: This association has been described as a minor vegetation type in the alpine zone on the western side of the Wind River Mountains in west-central Wyoming. It occurs on slopes of various aspects, in positions protected from the full force of the wind, often next to ~Deschampsia cespitosa - Geum rossii Wet Meadow (CEGL001884)$$. Forbs account for most of the canopy cover in the vegetation, with Geum rossii var. turbinatum, Antennaria media, and Potentilla diversifolia the common species. Carex albonigra is the most common graminoid, and Festuca brachyphylla and Carex saxatilis may contribute substantially to the graminoid component. Salix petrophila and Selaginella densa may be common.
