Description: This greasewood saline shrub prairie type is found in the northern Great Plains of the United States and Canada. Stands occur on somewhat saline soils, and salt crusts may occur. The vegetation contains scattered medium-tall (0.5-1 m) shrubs with a cover of 10-25%. The shrub layer is dominated by <i>Sarcobatus vermiculatus</i>. Herbaceous species include <i>Distichlis spicata</i> and <i>Puccinellia nuttalliana</i>.
