Description: This small- to medium-patch community of British Columbia occurs mainly on crests and moderately steep to steep aspects, often on south-facing slopes. The moderately open forest canopy is dominated by <i>Abies lasiocarpa var. lasiocarpa</i> and <i>Picea x albertiana</i>, with <i>Pinus contorta var. latifolia</i> and <i>Pinus albicaulis</i>. The understory is moderately well-developed and includes <i>Vaccinium membranaceum</i> with <i>Paxistima myrsinites</i> and <i>Rhododendron albiflorum</i> in the shrub layer and a sparse herb layer of <i>Orthilia secunda, Lupinus arcticus</i>, and <i>Arnica cordifolia</i>. The bryophyte layer is also sparse, including low cover of <i>Brachythecium</i> sp., <i>Peltigera</i> sp., and <i>Pleurozium schreberi</i>.
