Description: This granite - metamorphic talus type is found in the eastern boreal and Laurentian parts of the Great Lakes region in the United States and Canada. Stands occur as unconsolidated rocks at the base of steep slopes or cliffs. Soils are absent. The parent material is either granite or metamorphic, and rock fragments are often angular and large. The vegetation on these talus slopes varies from very sparse to pockets of shrubs and trees. Species composition needs to be described.
