Description: This white-cedar - hemlock evergreen forest type is found in the Upper Great Lakes region of the United States and Canada. Stands occur in Michigan and Wisconsin on the Menominee Drumlins, and in Ontario on moist to fresh sites. The tree canopy contains at least 25% cover of <i>Thuja occidentalis</i>, with <i>Tsuga canadensis</i> the next leading dominant. Other associates include <i>Acer saccharum, Betula alleghaniensis, Fraxinus americana</i>, and <i>Pinus strobus</i>. The herbaceous layer may contain <i>Epipactis helleborine</i> (an exotic), <i>Maianthemum canadense</i>, and others. This type has not been well-characterized, and further survey work is needed. As an upland <i>Thuja occidentalis</i> type, this type has less of a boreal composition to it.
