Description: This association is only known from the Santa Monica Mountains region. This herbaceous association occurs on gentle to steep often northeast or northwest slopes at low elevations between 52 and 422 m. <i>Nassella pulchra</i> is characteristically abundant in the herbaceous layer. <i>Hazardia squarrosa</i> is characteristically found in the shrub layer at low cover, and <i>Artemisia californica</i> is also usually present in this layer.
