Description: This association is characterized by a shrub layer dominated by <i>Artemisia arbuscula ssp. longicaulis</i> and a grass layer in which the dominant perennial grass is clearly <i>Elymus elymoides</i>. This association has been observed on steep hillsides just above alluvial fans coming out of the Virginia Range on the east side of Reno, Nevada.
