Description: This description is based on occurrences in the Santa Monica Mountains of California, but it is more common inland in the Los Angeles Basin and other south coastal drainages. Additional global information will be added as it becomes available. The shrub layer is characterized by <i>Lepidospartum squamatum</i>. <i>Eriogonum fasciculatum</i> and <i>Baccharis salicifolia</i> are also included in this layer. The tree layer is emergent and open and includes <i>Platanus racemosa</i> at low cover. The herbaceous layer is simple, and the non-native <i>Hirschfeldia incana</i> is the most abundant. Other herbs include <i>Centaurea melitensis</i> and <i>Artemisia douglasiana</i>.
