Description: This herbaceous association is currently only known from Point Reyes National Seashore in California, and the following description is based on occurrences there. Additional information will be added as it becomes available. Stands are found on undulating southeast- to north-facing slopes of sand dunes. Slopes are 2-18°. Soil textures are medium sand. Stands of this association form an intermittent to continuous canopy with 40-86% cover at 0.5-1 m. This vegetation is dominated by <i>Ammophila arenaria</i> and <i>Baccharis pilularis</i>. <i>Gnaphalium</i> sp., <i>Sonchus</i> sp., <i>Carpobrotus edulis, Vulpia</i> sp., <i>Pteridium aquilinum, Rubus ursinus</i>, and a variety of other herbaceous species may contribute to minor cover. The herbaceous perennial <i>Cardionema ramosissimum</i> occurs in virtually all stands at low cover.
