Name: Quercus pagoda - (Quercus falcata) / Ostrya virginiana Forest Reference: NatureServe Biotics 2019 Description: This dry-mesic forest community is restricted to apparently calcareous-influenced or basic soils associated with high terraces and adjacent slopes in western Tennessee, Kentucky, and possibly adjacent areas in both the East Gulf Coastal Plain and adjacent Interior Low Plateau near the Tennessee and Cumberland rivers. These are upland stands with a significant, if not dominant, component of <i>Quercus pagoda</i> and occasionally dominated or codominated by <i>Quercus falcata</i> in Interior Low Plateau stands. A number of other hardwoods may also be present, such as <i>Quercus velutina, Liquidambar styraciflua, Carya ovalis, Liriodendron tulipifera, Quercus rubra</i>, and <i>Quercus imbricaria</i>. The subcanopy may be heavily dominated by <i>Ostrya virginiana</i> and may also contain <i>Ulmus alata, Juniperus virginiana, Fraxinus americana</i>, and <i>Acer rubrum</i>.
