Description: This shrubland association occurs on gentle to steep slopes of variable aspect at low elevations between 162 and 657 m. It is dominated by <i>Adenostoma fasciculatum</i> and subdominated by <i>Malosma laurina</i> in the shrub layer, with scattered native and non-native species in the herbaceous layer. The emergent tree layer includes <i>Quercus agrifolia</i> in about a third of the samples.
