Description: This shrubland association occurs in southern California on somewhat steep to steep slopes of variable aspect at low elevations between 17 and 552 m. It is dominated by <i>Adenostoma fasciculatum</i> and <i>Salvia mellifera</i> in the shrub layer with <i>Rhus ovata</i> as a subdominant. The herbaceous layer is generally poorly developed. The emergent tree layer is generally absent.
