Description: This shrubland association occurs on moderately steep to very steep slopes of variable aspect at low elevations between 0 and 460 m. It is characterized by <i>Artemisia californica</i> and <i>Eriogonum cinereum</i> in the shrub layer. The herbaceous layer is generally insignificant but does include several native species of grasses. The emergent tree layer is generally absent but may include <i>Quercus agrifolia</i> and <i>Juglans californica</i>.
