Description: This shrubland association occurs on gentle to steep slopes of variable aspect at low elevations between 0 and 588 m. It is characterized by a codominance of <i>Artemisia californica, Eriogonum fasciculatum</i>, and <i>Salvia mellifera</i> in the shrub layer. There is an insignificant herbaceous layer. The emergent tree layer is generally absent but may include <i>Quercus agrifolia</i>.
