Description: This shrubland association occurs on somewhat steep to steep slopes of variable aspect at low to mid elevations between 383 and 847 m. It is characterized by a dominance of <i>Ceanothus megacarpus</i> and a subdominance of <i>Adenostoma sparsifolium</i> in the shrub layer. The herbaceous layer is insignificant. The emergent tree layer is generally absent but may include <i>Quercus agrifolia</i> and <i>Umbellularia californica</i>.
