Description: This shrubland association occurs on gentle to very steep southwest- and southeast-facing slopes at low elevations between 49 and 636 m. It is characterized by <i>Ceanothus megacarpus</i> as a dominant and <i>Salvia mellifera</i> as a subdominant in the shrub layer. The herbaceous layer is insignificant. The emergent tree layer is largely absent in most stands.
