Description: This association is found on fine sandy to loamy soils in the Outer Coastal Plain of North Carolina. <i>Pinus palustris</i> dominates the open canopy and other characteristic species include <i>Quercus laevis</i> and <i>Quercus incana</i> in the subcanopy/shrub layer, <i>Gaylussacia dumosa</i> and <i>Vaccinium tenellum</i> in the shrub layer, and <i>Aristida stricta</i> in the herb layer.
