Description: This shrubland association occurs on gentle to steep slopes of variable aspect at low to mid elevations between 498 and 847 m. It is characterized by a strong dominance of <i>Ceanothus oliganthus</i> in the shrub layer, although a variety of other shrubs may occur occasionally at low cover. The emergent tree layer occasionally includes <i>Quercus agrifolia</i> and <i>Umbellularia californica</i>.
