Description: This shrubland association occurs on flat to very steep southwest- to northeast-facing slopes at low elevations between 1 and 407 m. It is characterized by a dominance of <i>Coreopsis gigantea</i> with a codominance or subdominance of <i>Artemisia californica</i> and <i>Eriogonum cinereum</i> in the shrub layer. The herbaceous layer may have low cover of <i>Leymus condensatus, Melica imperfecta</i>, and scattered non-native species. The emergent tree layer is typically absent but may include non-native species.
