Description: This shrubland association occurs on gentle to very steep southeast- to northwest-facing slopes at low elevations between 0 and 528 m. It is characterized by a dominance of <i>Malosma laurina</i> in the shrub layer and a relatively nondescript herbaceous layer. The emergent tree layer includes <i>Quercus agrifolia</i> in about 20% of the stands.
