Description: These dense shrublands of tropical Florida are dominated by a variable mix of species, usually on the periphery of or associated with upland tropical or oak hammocks resulting from fire. Stands are dominated and characterized by <i>Morella cerifera</i> and <i>Ilex cassine</i>. They may also typically contain <i>Quercus virginiana</i> and <i>Serenoa repens</i>. Other characteristic species include <i>Chrysobalanus icaco, Persea borbonia, Sabal palmetto, Trema micrantha</i>, and <i>Baccharis glomeruliflora</i>.
