Description: This community is found on deeper soils on the Edwards Plateau and is the result of disturbance. Dominant shrubs include <i>Rhus lanceolata</i> and <i>Baccharis neglecta</i>. Understory species are usually characteristic of disturbed grasslands and may include <i>Schizachyrium scoparium, Bothriochloa ischaemum, Nassella leucotricha, Bouteloua hirsuta, Bouteloua curtipendula, Gutierrezia</i> spp., <i>Ambrosia</i> spp., and <i>Grindelia lanceolata</i>. This community may result after <i>Juniperus ashei</i> [see ~<i>Juniperus ashei</i> Ruderal Forest (CEGL004159)$$] is cleared from a former grassland by mechanical means or by fire. It may also succeed to this community over time if it is not returned to a grassland state with the application of fire or other management activity to control woody growth.
