Description: This association is found in the Ouachita Mountains of eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas on flat to gently sloping, south-facing shale outcrops with patches of forb-dominated vegetation and scattered woody species. The nominal species are <i>Sedum pulchellum, Phemeranthus calycinus</i>, and <i>Oenothera linifolia</i>. Other associated species include <i>Croton michauxii var. ellipticus, Plantago aristata, Coreopsis lanceolata, Agrostis elliottiana, Danthonia spicata, Hordeum pusillum</i>, and <i>Ruellia humilis</i>. Woody species include <i>Smilax bona-nox, Ulmus alata, Juniperus virginiana, Pinus echinata</i>, and <i>Vaccinium arboreum</i>. Vernal pools are important for some species.
