Description: Stands of this vegetation occur on vertical to sloping, exposed, dry outcrops of quartzite with little or no vascular vegetation. They are dominated by <i>Lasallia papulosa</i>, with or without <i>Lasallia pensylvanica</i>. Known from the Sauratown Mountains in the upper Piedmont of North Carolina.
