Description: This shrubland vegetation occupies natural lake shorelines, along Carolina bay lakes and associated with and grading into peatlands. The dominant shrubs are <i>Cyrilla racemiflora, Persea palustris</i>, and <i>Magnolia virginiana</i>. Conceptually, this association shows some transitional character towards bay forests. This association occurs on peats adjacent to highly acidic waters of Carolina bay lakes.
