Description: This community occurs in most of the ranges of the Trans-Pecos; composition differs from range to range. Additional information is needed to separate the community associations occurring in various ranges (Davis Mountains, Guadalupe Mountains, Glass Mountains, Sierra Vieja). Typical evergreen components include <i>Arbutus xalapensis, Quercus grisea, Juniperus deppeana, Juniperus pinchotii, Pinus ponderosa var. scopulorum</i>, and <i>Pinus edulis</i>. Typical deciduous components include <i>Acer grandidentatum, Quercus muehlenbergii, Ostrya knowltonii</i>, and <i>Juglans microcarpa</i>. Other characteristic species include <i>Nolina texana, Dasylirion leiophyllum</i>, and <i>Agave parryi ssp. neomexicana</i>.
