Description: This is a small stream forest of the Gulf Coast Prairies and Marshes Ecoregion and possibly adjacent inland areas of the West Gulf Coastal Plain and Upper West Gulf Coastal Plain. <i>Quercus nigra</i> dominates the canopy, with scattered <i>Quercus virginiana</i>. The tall-shrub stratum is dense and consists of <i>Ilex vomitoria</i>. Other shrubs and small trees include <i>Callicarpa americana</i> and <i>Prunus caroliniana</i>. Woody vines include <i>Berchemia scandens, Parthenocissus quinquefolia, Toxicodendron radicans</i>, and <i>Nekemias arborea</i>. <i>Chasmanthium sessiliflorum</i> is the dominant herb. Other herbs are <i>Oplismenus hirtellus ssp. setarius, Carex cherokeensis, Verbesina virginica, Ageratina aromatica, Asplenium platyneuron var. platyneuron, Geum canadense</i>, and <i>Polygonum virginianum</i>. <i>Tillandsia usneoides</i> and <i>Pleopeltis polypodioides ssp. michauxiana</i> are common epiphytes.
