Description: This community is widespread in Oklahoma (excluding the panhandle) and occurs on very xeric, extreme sites, especially on coarse soils and on south-facing slopes. The canopy is dominated by <i>Quercus marilandica</i>. The most dominant and characteristic herb is <i>Schizachyrium scoparium</i>. Associated species include <i>Juniperus virginiana var. virginiana, Prunus angustifolia, Rhus aromatica, Rhus glabra</i>, and <i>Symphoricarpos orbiculatus</i>.
