Description: Shrublands (conceptually approaching short forests) dominated by variable composition of <i>Crataegus viridis, Crataegus mollis</i>, or mixtures of the two. Other associated species include <i>Celtis laevigata var. laevigata, Diospyros virginiana, Ilex decidua, Laportea canadensis, Parthenocissus quinquefolia, Ulmus alata</i>, and <i>Smilax rotundifolia</i>. This association occurs as a successional type in old pastures and old fields in bottomlands, and is reported from localized areas in east-central and eastern Oklahoma.
