Description: This association has been identified in the panhandle of northern Texas. The woodland occurs on mesic sites near rivers and large streams. Soils are sandy and formed from alluvium. The canopy is moderate and formed almost exclusively of <i>Populus deltoides</i>. Shrub cover is sparse. Perennial grasses dominate the understory forming a moderate to dense herbaceous stratum. <i>Pascopyrum smithii</i> and <i>Panicum virgatum</i> are the dominants, usually with lesser amounts of <i>Elymus canadensis</i>.
