Description: This ponderosa pine woodland association is currently only known from a single occurrence in Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument in Arizona, and the following description is based on the occurrence there. Additional information will be added as it becomes available. This association is found at an elevation of 2200 m with a slope of 42% and on cinder gravel. The tree layer is characterized by <i>Pinus ponderosa</i> between 3-10 m tall. The most abundant grass is <i>Andropogon hallii</i>. The shrub cover is sparse.
