Description: This short graminoid vegetation occurs in the semipermanently flooded zones of northern Atlantic Coastal Plain pondshores. Standing water is usually present, but the water table may drop below the surface late in the growing season, although sediments generally remain saturated. Characteristic species include <i>Eriocaulon aquaticum, Lobelia dortmanna</i>, and <i>Isoetes</i> spp. Additional, intermittent species include <i>Schoenoplectus pungens, Utricularia gibba, Sagittaria graminea, Gratiola aurea, Juncus pelocarpus, Eleocharis acicularis</i>, and <i>Sparganium americanum</i>.
