Description: This seasonally flooded wetland occurs on the North Atlantic Coastal Plain of New Jersey in topographically defined basins. The dominant species are <i>Muhlenbergia torreyana, Rhynchospora fusca, Cladium mariscoides</i>, and <i>Sphagnum</i> spp. Other associates include <i>Amphicarpum purshii, Andropogon glomeratus, Bartonia paniculata, Carex striata var. brevis, Eriocaulon aquaticum, Hypericum canadense, Juncus canadensis, Lachnanthes caroliana, Lobelia canbyi, Panicum verrucosum, Panicum rigidulum var. pubescens, Panicum rigidulum var. rigidulum, Panicum virgatum, Rhexia virginica, Schizachyrium scoparium, Scleria reticularis</i>, and <i>Triadenum virginicum</i>. This vegetation occurs on the relatively higher, outer margin of the basin. The substrate is a thin organic horizon overtopping deep sand. This community is fire-dependent.
