Description: These mangrove forests occur in island interior depressions, with significant understory development, in the Florida Keys and southern peninsular Florida. Mangrove canopy is usually 7-12 m high, closed, and a variable mixture of <i>Rhizophora mangle, Avicennia germinans, Laguncularia racemosa</i>, and <i>Conocarpus erectus</i>. <i>Ficus aurea</i> may be present. The understory includes <i>Acrostichum</i> spp. and <i>Batis maritima</i>.
