Description: This association includes forests of mesic and calcareous slopes of the Atlantic Coastal Plain. The canopy is typically dominated by <i>Fagus grandifolia</i> and <i>Quercus alba</i>, with <i>Acer floridanum</i> present in some stands within its range. Characteristic species include <i>Carya tomentosa, Viburnum acerifolium, Crataegus marshallii</i>, and <i>Crataegus spathulata</i>. The herb layer is diverse with a variable composition.
