Description: This community is an oak-hickory forest of the East Gulf Coastal Plain of Mississippi, extending into adjacent areas, including possibly Alabama and Georgia. The canopy of stands of this type documented in Mississippi are dominated by <i>Quercus alba</i> with a significant amount of hickory (especially <i>Carya glabra)</i> also present. These stands lack <i>Quercus rubra, Quercus falcata</i>, and <i>Quercus stellata</i>. Minor amounts of <i>Quercus coccinea</i> are present in some stands. Other overstory trees known to be present include <i>Pinus echinata</i>.
