Description: The canopy is dominated by a somewhat variable mixture of <i>Tsuga heterophylla, Abies amabilis</i>, and <i>Thuja plicata</i>. The latter is sometimes absent. Tree regeneration is dominated by <i>Abies amabilis</i> and <i>Tsuga heterophylla</i>. The well-developed shrub layer is dominated by <i>Vaccinium alaskaense</i>, with <i>Vaccinium parvifolium</i> prominent to codominant and <i>Menziesia ferruginea</i> usually prominent. The well-developed herb layer is dominated or codominated by <i>Blechnum spicant</i>. <i>Cornus unalaschkensis</i> is usually present to prominent. <i>Oxalis oregana</i> and <i>Gaultheria shallon</i> occupy low cover if they are present. This type occurs on relatively moist, relatively nutrient-poor sites. This association occurs in a narrow environmental and geographic range in western Washington with only a few known occurrences.
