Description:
This association covers mesic perennial deep soil grasslands of the southeastern Highland Rim of Tennessee. This association is dominated by <i>Andropogon gerardii</i> along with <i>Schizachyrium scoparium</i>. Other graminoid species present include <i>Andropogon glomeratus, Calamagrostis coarctata, Panicum virgatum, Schizachyrium scoparium, Sorghastrum nutans</i>, and <i>Pteridium aquilinum</i>. Other dominants may include <i>Eurybia hemispherica, Symphyotrichum dumosum, Helianthus angustifolius, Potentilla simplex, Solidago odora, Solidago rugosa</i>, and <i>Polytrichum commune</i>; found to a lesser extent are <i>Aristida purpurascens var. virgata, Chasmanthium laxum, Dichanthelium aciculare, Dichanthelium dichotomum, Gymnopogon brevifolius, Panicum anceps, Panicum rigidulum</i>, and <i>Panicum verrucosum</i>. Woody species may include <i>Acer rubrum, Rhus copallinum, Rubus argutus</i>, and <i>Smilax glauca</i>.
