Description: This community occurs on the West Gulf Coastal Plain of Louisiana on flats near perennial streams. It is flooded by freshwater following rain events, but the soils are saline. This community is sparsely vegetated but has patches and zones dominated by various clonal wetland graminoids, including <i>Eleocharis</i> spp., <i>Schoenoplectus</i> spp., <i>Fimbristylis</i> spp., <i>Juncus</i> spp., and <i>Spartina pectinata</i>. Forbs are scattered and include <i>Hibiscus lasiocarpos, Pluchea</i> sp., <i>Phyla</i> sp., and <i>Alternanthera paronichyoides</i> (exotic).
