Description: This association covers large floodplain forests of the Mississippi River Alluvial Plain, Upper East Gulf Coastal Plain, and Ouachitas in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and possibly Tennessee. It also occurs on the Mobile-Tensaw Delta of Alabama. In stands of this association, <i>Liquidambar styraciflua</i> is codominant with <i>Quercus phellos</i> and <i>Quercus nigra</i>. <i>Quercus nigra</i> increases in importance on better drained sites.
